Police willing to brief AG why suspects in Nurin murder probe released
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- The Police will brief Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail the reasons for the release of suspects detained in the Nurin murder probe if asked, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan.
"I myself will explain to him should he (AG) want to know the details," he told reporters after witnessing the handing over of duties ceremony for Bukit Aman's new logistics director here Tuesday.
He said this when asked to comment on a report in an English newspaper on Friday which said that the AG wanted an explanation why all the suspects detained in connection with the case were released.
Asked on the three men seen getting into a Perodua Kenari car that was recorded on the CCTV system of the shop where eight-year-old Nurin Jazlin Jazimin 's body was left in a sports bag, Musa said they had no links to the case.
The three men turned up at the Petaling Jaya police station on Friday to give statements after pictures taken from the video recording showing their presence at the crime scene were published in all the major newspapers.
On the investigations as to how autopsy pictures of Nurin's body could have been circulated on the Internet, Musa said, "We will get to the bottom of this barbaric act."
He declined to comment on the latest developments in the murder probe.
Nurin went missing on August 20 after going on her own to a night market near her house in Wangsa Maju here. On September 20, her naked body stuffed in a sports bag was found left underneath the staircase of shoplot in PJS1/48.
A total of five suspects including an Indonesian woman were detained in connection with case but all were later freed.
