Toll rate for KL-Putrajaya highway to be decided soon
The Star (8/11/2007): PETALING JAYA: The toll rate of the Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya highway will be known in the next few days, said Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu.
"The toll fee will be decided within these few days. I will take it to the Cabinet for approval," said the Minister after appearing on TV3's Malaysia Hari Ini show at the television station here Thursday.
He said the 26km highway, which started from the Kampung Pandan roundabout, would be opened to motorists in January.
"The highway will lighten traffic flow along the KL-Seremban Highway, especially around the TUDM airport, where motorists use the highway to go to Cheras, the MRR2 highway or the Kuala Lumpur city centre.
"The highway will also improve traffic flow at the Kampung Pandan roundabout and at Jalan Chan Sow Lin. It is an alternative route to Putrajaya besides the KL-Seremban Highway, Sungai Besi Highway and Kesas Highway," he said. Construction work on the highway started three years ago and the highway is expected to be completed on Dec 5.
Samy said that currently motorists had to take 45 minutes from Kuala Lumpur to Putrajaya, when there was no jam.
"With the new highway, motorists can reach Putrajaya in 35 minutes," he said, adding that the highway cost about RM1.4bil to build.
